The living complex brings daily worship, regional Shakti tradition and the city's public life into one pilgrimage setting.2Mahalakshmi TempleMumbai, MaharashtraMumbai's Mahalakshmi Temple stands near the coast in the city's southern precincts. Its sanctum honours Mahalakshmi with Mahakali and Mahasaraswati, joining prosperity, power and knowledge in a shared devotional image.3Padmavathi AmmavariTiruchanoor, Andhra PradeshTiruchanoor, about five kilometres from Tirupati, is the home of Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple. TTD presents Padmavathi as the beloved consort of Venkateswara and connects her manifestation with the golden lotus of Padma Sarovaram.4Ashtalakshmi TempleChennai, Tamil NaduThe Ashtalakshmi Temple at Besant Nagar stands close to Chennai's seafront and houses separate sanctums for eight forms of Lakshmi within a multi-level structure. Movement through the building is part of its distinctive worship experience.5Sripuram Lakshmi NarayaniVellore, Tamil NaduSripuram's Golden Temple is dedicated to Sri Lakshmi Narayani and stands at Thirumalaikodi outside Vellore. The shrine, consecrated in 2007, sits within a landscaped spiritual park rather than an ancient temple complex.6Lakshmi Devi TempleDoddagaddavalli, KarnatakaThe Lakshmi Devi Temple at Doddagaddavalli is among the earliest recognisable Hoysala temples. Heritage documentation dates its commission to 1113 CE by the merchant Kullahana Rahuta and his wife Sahajadevi.7Laxmi Narayan TempleOrchha, Madhya PradeshOrchha's Laxmi Narayan Temple combines temple and fort-like architecture on high ground outside the main palace complex. Bir Singh Deo commissioned it in the seventeenth century, and Prithvi Singh later restored it.
