Place and overview
The Lakshmi Devi Temple at Doddagaddavalli is among the earliest recognisable Hoysala temples. Heritage documentation dates its commission to 1113 CE by the merchant Kullahana Rahuta and his wife Sahajadevi.
Tradition and setting
Its four-shrine plan, stone towers and sculptural programme make it important to the study of Hoysala architecture. Lakshmi is central, with associated shrines and guardian imagery forming a larger sacred arrangement.
