Two birthplace traditions
Anjanadri in Karnataka and Anjaneri near Nashik are both remembered locally as Hanuman's birthplace. Each guide presents its own tradition as that region states it, without ranking one above the other.

These seven shrines are remembered in local tradition for moments in Hanuman's own life: the hills named as his birthplace, the Hampi shrine where tradition places his first meeting with Rama, the Ayodhya and Chitrakoot places of service, the reclining image at Prayagraj and the Shimla hill linked with the search for the Sanjeevani herb.

A flight of 462 steps leads to the hilltop Hanuman temple, from where the Hampi monuments and the Tungabhadra River open out in a wide view.2Anjaneri HillsNashik · MaharashtraAnjaneri lies about twenty kilometres from Nashik on the Trimbakeshwar road and rises to roughly 4,264 feet above sea level. The walk to the summit covers about four kilometres and usually takes five to six hours.3Yantrodharaka HanumanHampi · KarnatakaThe Yantrodharaka Hanuman temple stands about two kilometres from Hampi's Virupaksha temple, on a hill beside the Tungabhadra River. Its uphill approach, deodar setting and broad views over the town make the landscape inseparable from the visit.
Not a single road route
