भावार्थ

ऐसी आरती राम रघुबीर की का अर्थ

Every physical article of a normal aarti is present here and every one has been replaced. Incense becomes the understanding that Hari pervades everything; the lamp becomes self-knowledge; the food-offering becomes clear feeling; the betel leaf becomes love; the ghee becomes one's good and bad deeds together, with renunciation as the flame. The row of lamps is devotion, detachment and knowing. Tulsidas is not dismissing ritual so much as showing what each of its parts was standing in for, and the poem's first word is an instruction to the mind rather than the hands.
