Dedicated toMaa Lakshmiश्री सूक्तम् अग्नि को जातवेदस् कहकर सम्बोधित करता है और श्री को समीप लाने की प्रार्थना करता है। स्वर्ण और प्रकाश के साथ गौ, अन्न, सत्य वाणी, कीर्ति, जल और भूख के नाश की छवियाँ भी आती हैं।
इसलिए सूक्त की समृद्धि भौतिक होने के साथ सम्बन्धपरक और पारिस्थितिक भी है। घर पोषण, ईमानदार वाणी, समुदाय में प्रतिष्ठा और जीवन-सहायक परिस्थितियों से फलता है।
विभिन्न पाठों में पन्द्रह मूल ऋचाओं के बाद अतिरिक्त श्लोक मिलते हैं। भजनधारा अपना चुना पाठ स्पष्ट बताता है ताकि एक प्रार्थना-पुस्तक के क्रम को सार्वभौमिक न माना जाए।
इसे पवित्र काव्य और प्रार्थना की तरह पढ़ें, आर्थिक भविष्यवाणी या निश्चित उपाय की तरह नहीं।
