The two editions agree word for word across the refrain and all six verses, with no variants to record. Both repeat the opening refrain as a closing stanza, which is not stored separately here. No modern source translation is reproduced.
What does Jai Saraswati Mata mean?
Sung at Vasant Panchami and, in much of North India, at the start of a child's schooling, this aarti keeps to the standard Hindi aarti metre. Two things in it are worth pausing on. The veena in one hand and the rosary in the other set learning and discipline side by side rather than treating either as sufficient. And the fourth verse makes an unusual claim — that Saraswati acted through Manthara, whose words sent Rama into exile and so began the chain that ended Ravana. The goddess of speech is credited with the story's most consequential piece of bad advice.
